The IRDF (Independent Residence Development Fund) is an MIT endowment fund that provides grants and loans to FSILGs to improve their facilities in various ways. In the recent past the actives have used the IRDF to purchase computers for the commons, upgrades for the server, and new desks and chairs. The fund depends on alumni contributions and the amount a chapter is able to retrieve is loosely a function of how much their alumni put in.
